LunArena Barefoot Hotel & Kite School

We had such a wonderful stay at Luna Arena! The staff specially Dayberht went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed El Cuyo to the fullest. Rooms were spotless, the food was delicious, and the chairs and tent for the beach made it extra special. They also helped us with tours and local tips—can’t recommend it enough!

These beds and pillows are more comfortable than mine at home. I love the flair of the hotel, the flowers, the pool, the people and the views. It is the perfect blend of tropical paradise and a sense of luxury. I have never felt unsafe or uncomfortable at El Cuyo. The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect for someone who wants miles of white beach and endless palm trees. Since it is not in the center, you have a lot of privacy and paradise all to yourself. This is my third time and one thing is for sure, I will be back.

We had a lovely time at LunArena. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the vibe is excellent. Our view of the jungle was enchanting, especially at night when the stars were on full display. Breakfast was tasty, the shower water was hot. There's a (delightfully unpopulated!) stretch of beach right across the street and the hotel has beach chairs you can use. My two suggestions: 1. If you're going in the summer, make sure you've selected a room with A/C; some rooms have it, some do not. We made the mistake of choosing a room without it and were very uncomfortable for the first few nights, BUT when we asked them if we could move rooms they accommodated us graciously. It was a game changer -- we slept so much better. 2. Be prepared for bugs. Since we were there during a particularly humid, rainy week, the mosquitoes were vicious (especially early morning and right around sunset). Bring bug spray (though they are not completely deterred by it) and just embrace the fact that a humid locale, right next to untouched jungle, will inevitably mean bugs.

I did not stay at LunArena but at it's sister hotel Dos Mares, which recommends access to its pool, rooftop and beach. LunArena has beach chairs that its guests (and those of Dos Mares) can use. It wasn't a big deal for us, but it would be nice if there were more beach chairs available as the two days we tried to use them they were all taken. The hotel is located right by the end of the town which calls for one of the most beautiful beaches. The pool / restaurant area is so charming. The customer service here was 5/5, and better than that at Dos Mares I have to say. Rodrigo made our experience here top notch, by going out of his way and offering bringing us drinks to the beach. Will definitely be back.

We had an ocean view room on the 3rd floor. Beautiful view over nature park and ocean that starts right next to this hotel. Room was not too small, or too big. A small kitchen including a fridge. Some staff speak English. We enjoyed the freshly prepared breakfast too. The location was amazing and exactly what we wanted: away from most things, quiet and natural. I’d stay here again.

We loved every moment of this place. The staff were welcoming, smiling and helpful. The location was a great getaway from the "spring breakers" in Cancun. The room we booked was excellent. It had a balcony with a hammock which faced the jungle. The walls are white and it is always bright and beautiful. Really nice concept. It had a kitchen and a fridge in the room as well as a sitting area. It is large and very comfortable/relaxing. Breakfast had 3 options to choose from, pancakes, omelets or oats alongside coffee.

It's such a sweet place. Service was very good, they did everything to get you happy. Room had a nice little view to the forest. It's kept simple, but with the big double window and the hammock it's just so sweet. All in all definitely worth the price. I would book the first floor as it is cheaper than the second floor but still has a nice terrace. The room type was called "LunArena".
